Are you looking for a child psychiatrist or therapist in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee? Finding a mental health treatment provider you can trust is important. If your teen is struggling with their mental health, ensuring that they get the support and treatment they need can be key to helping them overcome obstacles. Initial treatments are not always effective. If your teen hasn’t seen much progress through weekly therapy sessions, don’t lose hope. They may just need a bit more support. An intensive outpatient program (IOP) or partial hospitalization program (PHP) could offer the level of tailored treatment your child needs.
Unique advantages of psychiatric treatment at Embrace U’s Mt. Juliet location
At Embrace U, we specialize in top-notch mental health treatment services for adolescents aged 10 to 18. Our Mt. Juliet location, one of our newest clinics, offers outpatient programs designed to meet the needs of each patient. Treatment at this clinic comes with many advantages, including:
- convenient hours — As a working parent, it can be hard to juggle your job with your child’s activities and any treatment they need. We understand that family life is busy, especially for working parents. Our program hours are set with the goal of reducing impact on busy schedules. At our Mt. Juliet location, PHP hours run from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and IOP hours run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. These hours are intended to allow for a smoother drop-off and pickup experience for working parents in the area. The frequency of your child’s visits will depend on the program they are in. Adolescents in our intensive outpatient program tend to have in-clinic treatment sessions three or four times a week. These sessions include individual therapy as well as other treatment approaches like group therapy. For partial hospitalization program patients, you can expect four or five clinical visits each week. Given that PHP is the more intensive treatment option, sessions are longer than IOP visits.
- art therapy — Creative outlets can play a key role in mental and emotional healing. At Embrace U, we recognize the therapeutic value of creativity. Our Mt. Juliet location has a registered art therapist on staff. With art therapy, your child can process their thoughts and feelings through active art-making. Art therapy can come in many different forms. During art therapy sessions, your child may work with paint, colored pencils, clay and other art materials. A patient doesn’t need to be a skilled artist to benefit from art therapy. Rather than focusing on the quality of the end product, the goal of art therapy is to benefit from the process. The process of making art can have many benefits. It can distract from negative thoughts and provide a communicative outlet for complicated feelings. With art therapy sessions alongside regular one-on-one and group therapy sessions, your child can benefit from a multifaceted approach to mental wellness.
- on-site therapy dog — Therapy dogs can significantly reduce self-reported anxiety and distress levels, according to Frontiers in Veterinary Science. People who spend time with therapy dogs often experience emotional comfort and calmness. A therapy dog can also make treatment feel more approachable and enjoyable for apprehensive patients. When your child receives treatment at our Mt. Juliet location, they can meet Winston, our full-time therapy dog.
- intensive outpatient program — If your child needs a bit more support than traditional therapy provides, intensive outpatient care could be a good next step. Our IOP offers highly structured, comprehensive treatment. We use evidence-based therapeutic models, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and radically open dialectical behavior therapy (RO-DBT). Our skilled therapy team can help your child build coping skills, process trauma, and break from negative thought and behavior patterns. Our IOP provides treatment outside of school hours, meaning your child can receive the care they need without major disruptions to their academic or social life.
- partial hospitalization program — Partial hospitalization is a great option for patients who need close monitoring and focused treatment. At Embrace U, our PHP offers many of the advantages of full hospitalization without the disruptions of inpatient care. During your child’s course of treatment, they can still come home each night to spend time with your family. We also work to ensure that students can keep up with their schoolwork. Whether your teen is transitioning from an inpatient program or simply needs further mental health support, our PHP can help meet their needs and support their recovery goals.
